So I got the Platelet Rich Plasma shot in my foot on June 6th. They told me to drink lots of water and they drew blood from my arm. Then they spun it down to plasma and the doctor injected the plasma into my foot in two places. He said no anti-inflammatory meds for six weeks. That is how long it is supposed to talk the PRP injection to work.
I must say that it feels a little better – the torn tendons do anyway. The foot is still numb, and I push down on it more than I do the other side, but I sense a bit of improvement.
The hard part of no anti-inflammatories is that my hands needed them more than I knew when I was taking them. My right hand has begun to be very sore right where the fingers attach to the hand – especially the middle finger. I have osteoarthritis in my fingers – that is quite obvious from swollen and misshappen joints, but now I wonder if it has morphed into rheumatoid.
I am going to a physical therapist who does myofascial release. This is for my hip now and eventually my foot, when it heals completely. She wants me to do stretches for five minutes. One of them completely numbs my hip, so I am trying to build it up for smaller increments of time. I hope against hope that this will be of some help.
Somehow, I find out that my crazy boyfriend distracts me enough to put the pain aside for a while. I wonder how much more I would dwell on it if he were not in the picture…
